Just found this battery maintainer. I don't know how well it works, but it would be pretty convenient mounted permanently under the hood. Then just plug it in like a block heater.

I've got two of this same setup in different spots and it's really handy. The 30ft or so of charging lead that gives you is plenty to reach out into a driveway or whatever if necessary, and the Battery Tender Plus is a great little smart charger that you can leave on as long as you like.
