Those locking extensions would be nice, as long as they didn't create a clearance issue. I was fighting with keeping one of my Lisle Torx bits on an extension just recently. I'm not sure if it's the fault of the bit, or extension.
A wrap or 3 of electrical tape isn't quite a locking extension but it'll work 99.37% of the time.

Thanks, I never thought about that. What I was doing the other day was more annoying than anything, but tape would be a great idea in a situation where the socket might drop and be next to unrecoverable, or falling off before it reaches the fastener.

I could buy it semi-locally years ago, but have not even tried in 10+ years. It was super expensive, and the cans would loose pressure. I was buying PB Blaster, but I don't really like the smell, and I've heard that Liquid Wrench tests better.
Everybody has their favorite penetrating oil, but I've been using PB Blaster for probably 30 years now and love it. Never used Kroil but I'll give it a try next time if I can find it. I quit using Liquid Wrench when I was doing the 1960-1966 truck parts salvage game in the late 80's/early 90's (y'all thought I just did GMT400's! that was my salvage operation 2.0) - I had a bunch of stuff that Liquid Wrench just couldn't budge, but the Blaster pretty much never fails me.

For all of you looking at penetrating oil, you need to try a 50/50 mix of of acetone and transmission fluid.
Yep, I think that's what came on the #1 or #2 on that Project Farm comparison, IIRC.

I mixed some up once and still have a bit left over. I've been using liquid wrench for the last year though. I buy 2 or 3 cans from the local parts store and that lasts for a while. I like the pressure with little straw.

$30 for Kroil sounds crazy! I'd be expecting for that rusty bolt to unzip himself out if I sprayed some of that stuff on it! LOL

We don't really deal with a lot of rust here, so I'm certainly no expert on the subject. Really, anything sold at the hardware store works for me. WD-40, PB blaster, liquid wrench. Also have some 3 in 1 laying around for light lubrication.

I never expect penetrating oil to do any good, and therefore I'm never disappointed. I like the advertising for B'Laster. It dissolves a styrofoam cup. But none of the crap I work on is seized-up with styrofoam. I've seen with my own eyes, guys spraying penetrating oil on seized crap that's sealed with air-tight gaskets, or electro-corroded due to dissimilar metals getting too friendly in blind holes. The penetrant cannot get to what's seized. Makes a nice, stinky puddle on the ground, though.

OTOH, I've never seen penetrating oil make things worse. So I use whatever's on sale, or whatever is in the most-colorful can when I'm shopping. B'Laster, Liquid Wrench, Deep Creep, Store brand, the latest purchase is WD-40 "Specialist". I marinade when I can.

When I run into trouble with seized bolts, I really prefer to break out Mr. Oxy-Acetylene torch. God bless the glowing-orange rust-buster.

I would like to try the portable "inductive heaters" for making bolts glow. But I'm wary of sinking hundreds of dollars into equipment that look like consumer-grade sillytools.

Nuts or bolts can't be seized if it's a liquid! LOL

I don't have an oxy acetalyne torch, but welding a big 'ol nut over rounded bolt heads has saved my butt also.

My transmission drain plug had apparently been stripped before. I had always taken to a shop for transmission fluid change back then, so I don't know how it got stripped, but it did.

After trying a wrench, sockets, vice grips, those spiral fluted extractors, and lots of cussing in English AND Spanish, nothing worked!..I finally got fed up and had to break out the old stick welder.

Holding a stick electrode under my truck, with welding hood on, trying not to to catch myself or the damn truck on fire was fun! That was the hardest part of removing my old transmission! LOL
