Votec max

Looking at purchasing a gmc Sierra, 1999, 2500, 6 liter, with a vortec max badge. What does the max represent. Is it just improved engine horsepower and torque? Any specs? I realize this is a gmt 800 series but searching for any info I can get.

The vortec max was just a 6.0 in a 1500.

Yea if its a 2500 the motor is probably just a run of the mill lq4. Someone probably just stuck vmax badges on it

Not a Vortec Max from the factory. 1999's also had the iron heads, not aluminum...wouldn't be my first choice. From 2003 and on the interiors were better.

Vortec Max was the 6.0 offered in the 2007+ half tons. It was replaced by the 6.2 L92 when the 6L80 trans came out. It is a rectangular port engine similar to what the Pontiac G8 would have run.

They had some that were a 6.0 half ton in the cat eye style trucks that wernt ss’s. I think the only years it was offered was 06-07 classic. But im positive vortec max wasnt a thing in 99.

Absolutely not. Don't forget the 8 lug half tons with the 6.0 as well, ordinary LQ4 motors there.

Yea i know. I forget who but i recall seeing some unicorn brodozer lookin 06 or 07 classic on youtube. It was a ext cab with the 5.5 bed and a 6.0 from the factory.

I've seen a couple 07 classic 1500 crew cab z71s with a factory 6.0 and vortec max emblems. Almost bought a black one just didn't like the idea of having payments again. But definitely no vortec max in 99.
