Update, heads are on, valvetrain is in. The full Comp Cams cam and valvetrain required shorter pushrods than stock, .150" shorter on the long and .100" shorter on the short. Got I great set of Trickflow 3/8 pushrods for I thought a reasonable $220. Made a crank drive plate by welding an old socket to a disk that I pulled out of the scrap bin at the laser shop I used to work at. Epoxied magnets to the block where the heads drain oil, to catch metal particles coming off the springs. The lower half of the manifold is getting .060" milled off to account for the decked block and heads. In the meantime, I practiced putting in the distributor, to get an idea of the right depth for it to go in. I may need shims to account for all the milling. Is it safe to assume that the dist housing is in the right place, or close enough to run, when the cap is square to the block? The whole cam retard timing thing has me worried.
