How did you fit the double din in there and still keep the cubby hole?! I like it!
I can see where the top of the climate control cluster has been trimmed, but it still looks, well.....positively professional.......
As Rojas mentioned, I used the Metra kit. I trimmed the dash bezel and some of the inner dash for it to fit. Some of the newer double dins that aren't DVD players like this one are shallow enough no inner dash trimming is required.

Thanks for the kind words.

Wait a minute........

This kit isn't the whole dash bezel? Does this just require a little trimming of the existing dash, or am I seeing this wrong? I was about to buy the big Metra kit for a couple hundred dollars. This is a much better option, and they sell the little cubby to replace my CD player too.

Correct. It's just the trim ring to cover the areas you cut on your dash bezel. It's the kit I'm using in my truck.

Did a couple minor things to the suburban in the last few days. I replaced the burnt out bulbs with LEDs in my 4wd drive switch. I also changed out the barn door lock actuator so now all the doors lock again. I also discovered I need a new trim panel for that barn door as the plastic is cracked in a couple spots.

We've all read the posts about weak airflow out of the dash vents yadda yadda. Yesterday I decided I should check my evaporator housing since it hadn't been cleaned since I owned the vehicle. What a bunch of grossness in there. I bought a can of foaming ac cleaner from Menards and used a toothbrush to scrub the core and inside the housing. Airflow is improved and the ac is colder. Well worth the hour I invested. The blower motor is a VDO aftermarket unit that seemed to be in good shape so I just reinstalled it. I had initially planned to replace it. I did find out the cover for my blower motor is in pretty bad shape though. Just something else to add to my junkyard list.

Nothing terrible much going on with the suburban. Chipping away at the odds and ends as time and funds allow.

I picked up an unbroken barn door trim to replace my cracked one, warrantied my egr valve since it was throwing a check engine light, installed Bilstein 4600s in the rear to match the front (no pics), and installed the steering wheel I got from @Z71Hobbs.

My biggest recent find at the junkyard was a mint pair of autodimming side mirrors (rpo code DD0). Cleaned them up and got them on after losing a few nuts in the door.

Anyway on to the pics

They're crazy hard to find in good shape here. I got the pair for $60. Love having them.
