Transmission acting weird

My 92 did the same thing, stuck in first gear no matter what I did. Turned out the TV cable itself was actually stuck in the transmission, in the all the way out position. While I am a mechanic I had a local trans shop look at it and do the repairs. Automatic transmissions are magic "Go forward, Go backward" boxes to me. Turned out the fix was a spring kit that actually pushes the TV cable back to the idle position. no problems after that.
