There's a few different avenues you can take;I'm new to this electric fuel stuff. Where can I get a tune for this truck?
Ok cool wow this Is awesome thank you so much. I will start learning and looking into these options.There's a few different avenues you can take;
1) Find someone who can "Burn" a chip for your application. It's always better to data log and then have them update your .bin (binary file), log some more and do it again until it's dialed in. Mail order chips aren't really a good option but a cheaper way to go.
2) Get your ECM modified to except a 27SF512 "Flash Chip" EEPROM (Electronically Erasable Read Only Memory), instead of the OE 2732A PROM (Programmable Read Only Memory), by soldering in a 28 pin socket to accept it (there are folks that can do this for you). Then you can either email your logs to the tuner and he'll send back the updated .bin so you can flash your own chip using something like Moates Burn2.
3) Install an "Emulator" like Moates Ostrich 2.0 so you can flash updates real time.
4) Get the EBL Flash2 (from Dynamic EFI) where it will automatically "tune" your VE (Volumetric Efficiency) table to get your AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) dialed in and then you can play with other parameters like SA (Spark Advance), AE (Acceleration Efficiency), PE (Performance Enhancement), SA Launch Mode to add spark when mashing the skinny pedal, and so on. You can data log with its proprietary "WUD" (What's Up Display) and see real time or logged parameters which helps troubleshooting too.
With any of these a WBO2 (Wide Band O2 sensor) will greatly improve your results. You'll also need a laptop and an ALDL to USB cable so you can data log and/or modify your calibration.
Options 1 - 3 you can use TunerPro RT software to log and trouble shoot issues. Sorry about the long winded dissertation, HTH.

I'm in Dallas county, my understanding is that at 25 years there's no more emissions testing, only safety inspectionI wish I could delete the cats and the O2 sensors, but the truck isn't old enough to pull the pollution control stuff off. The county it's registered in is adjacent to Houston and all the emission stuff has to be working properly to pass the annual state inspection. Once the vehicle is 25 years old, l can get "classic truck " plates but I'm not sure what that changes, if anything, for the emission controls. I'd like to put turbo mufflers on it but I don't need it to be too much louder. I like a rumble as much as anyone else but don't want it to sound like some kid in a new Mustang that you can hear 3 blocks away. Sometimes it's good to NOT wake up the neighbors when you have to work late....

That being said, in 2 years when my 97 hits that mark, I'll get my last inspection, read the last letter of the law, and double check with a reputable testing facilityThanks, that's good to know. Now if I can keep somebody from hitting the truck for that long (that's why I got this Burb, the first one I had got totalled by an asshat who ran a red light).
