Your welcome , I’m not 100% sure but I’m pretty positive. Ive read it somewhere on here I’m pretty sure. If a dyno tune isn’t in your budget though and you would rather tune it than not I’d go black bear.

If I got a 383 I would have to drive it like that temp. Lol if I got a tune I want the truck done. So ride hight, Engine, trans, and 373 rear end. But for sure I would want a tune. I hear a lot of request for black bear, and pay to keep the old ecm. That would be so awesome. Man I wish I could get it done by christmas:)

You don’t know how bad I wish I could have mine done by next month. I’d be in the same boat, i would have to keep it on the stock tune temporarily also. I’m only 18 so money isn’t great, but it’s getting there lol. I eventually wanna lift my truck and put a high hp motor in it, it’ll be a while though. I’m hoping I’ll get a newer truck sometime soon, that will mean the truck will get pushed back a little while which I hate but I need something to drive daily so i have the time to work on my truck.

Same here lol. Because my accident earlier this year I had to get another vehicle to get around. Problem is I'm part time on my job, so that hurts financially. All you can do is save:)

I do have another vehicle but hell it’s 31 years old, and a 4 cylinder with 85hp isn’t fun going 70 miles a day on the interstate isn’t fun. I need something a little newer that’s more dependable. These 400s are very reliable and dependable but you probably know better than I do, once you hit 300k stuff starts to break and go bad left and right. I actually just got a new job with a great opportunity. My gfs brother in law owns a fiber optic cable business and he wants to train me up to make good money. He’s gonna train me how to run equipment pretty much full time which is $25-$30hr and then he’s gonna teach me how to splice when we get big jobs, like working on 1000 acre solar farms, he pays his full time splicer $70k a year. So hopefully stuff will follow the right direction and I’ll make good money in the next couple of years. Wow just realized how long this post is, I’m sorry to give you a book lol.

It's ok lol. That's good. If it works out save as much as you can lol. When I was doing plumbing , I was making similar. Definitely helps and trades are very valuable right now. If times get too rough I may have to jump back in plumbing lol. Get any licenses you can get and certifications and make yourself valuable. Since I'm a journeyman it's good for both commercial and residential which doesn't limit me. Also I'm driving a 06 Toyota so it's not the newest but so far it's been reliable and done its job. Problem I have is it's hard to find them cheap lol. This one only had 90k miles on it and I wanted something to haul my stuff and carry my son. It's a v6 and is better on gas than the suburban. But hands down I already miss the size and height of the suburban. I bang my head putting my son in the car seat, never did that in the burb. Anyways just see all your options and get as reliable of a newer vehicle as possible. Last thing you want is to get something that takes the money away from your gmt400lol

Isn’t that the truth lol. I’m planning on getting a diesel, the problem with that is I would probably wanna put some goodies on it and that would take some money away lol. My ultimate goal is to restore my truck 100% then add my own touch to it like a lift, exhaust and what not. I’ve learned to save as much as possible. I’ve been trying to save money for the past 6 months to a year and have got nowhere. I have only worked at my job a total of 8 days and made $1000. Ive saved right at $900 in two weeks. I have no bills which helps out lol. That has been my main goal was getting into a trade so i always have work. If things go as planned i may start my own business. My boss told me he made over $1,000,000 last year and he’s only been doing it for 4. It is hard work but i enjoy it, especially being outside all day and really it’s like going to hang out with a friend because he’s basically family (I’ve been with my gf for 4 years, so I’ve known him a while). I hope you get everything worked out with the suburban, you and hotwheels have made me want one lol. Hopefully I’ll never need anything that big though lol.

Most of the time ours is not hauling anything but mom and I to work, but when I need the room it's there. The swap meet last month, I had everything to fill out a 10x20 swap meet space and my icebox and camping gear, and the truck only sat down a little bit. Just enough rake to not be level. Of course no single box was more than 20 or so pounds, but I had plenty of boxes in there!
The other thing I like about a full size vehicle, is in traffic, it's nice to have a bit of iron between you and everyone else. Don't know how folks drive where you are, but in Houston they are crazy! 6 million people here in Houston area, and it always seems like they're all on the same road as you!

Same to you :) I will say theres money in the trade. Hard part for me was balancing between work and my family. But it was a good experience. I did it for 6yrs and learned a lot. I will say this. Learn how to sale or communicate with customers. It's a true art I tried learning and was harder then it sounds. Goodluck with your truck and if you ever do get a burb lol you know where to find us. There awesome vehicles but have there own personalitys lol

Thank you! I understand where your coming from about family time. I’m supposed to work 9-5 but I haven’t got off at 5 yet except for when we got off early because rain lol. Not to mention i go in at about 7:30-8, but oh well a career is a career. I may not stay in this field forever, I’ve thought about plumbing also. I originally wanted to be an electrical lineman, but that calls for too much time away from home. That’s a single mans job lmao. I have considered getting a tahoe instead of a burban, because they are a little smaller and more of the size i would need. It is nice to have the extra room and not need it , than need it and not have it. These 400s take care of us, but they want some care in return. I have no plans of ever parting ways with mine. I’ll let it sit away and rot before it leaves me. I may just end up getting the stock replacement to hurry up and get it back on the road. I can’t recall if it was you or not, do you have headers on your burb?

I did have headers for the longest time but had to many issues with the flanges. So ended up going back to stock manifolds.

Also if you did get into plumbing. It has different areas to offer. Service, commercial, installs and sewers. Each having there own pluses and minuses.

Tahoe and Yukon are nice my dad has one. I just for some reason grew up loving the suburban more lol. But having a truck is also something i could see having it's own benefits and more practical for life style. I never owned a silverado but my friend has a 2door Cheyenne that is pretty awesome. I really wish I could purchase a crew cab dually with a 7.4 but I have no need for it lol
