"I" would not put real money into a 305/5L unless circumstances were very weird.I have thought about just driving it and fixing all the other odd and ends and find a 350 to build.
Grab a 350--either known-good; or a suitable core--and have at it. You'll need computer tuning as well (or grab the computer that's been running the 350 you buy, assuming it's suitable for your vehicle.)How hard is it swapping a 350. New computer??
I'd have said that the plug looks like it's getting oil. But kinda hard to tell from one photo. That actually looks like its getting fuel. Maybe just not at the right time due to a clogged injector/line.
The labor involved would be high. Might as well replace the known-crappy spider system with the better injectors. (But I'd do it to a 5.7L as part of the swap...)Is there any way to swap injector postion with the spider setup, to see if the problem moves? I know that would be a lot of work for the OP, but replacing the whole spider is also expensive.
What should plug wore look like on spark o disconnect the plug wire and laid it on metal and it was arcing but didn't seam consistent. New wires rotors and cap...could it be the distrub9tor?
Would bad valve stems cause a missifire letting oil into cylinder or too much air.Might be worth popping a valve cover or two, and replacing valve stem seals. Low cost, moderate amount of labor. Good weekend project. Clean/replace one fouled plug, see what happens.
I'll grab a tester and test it to be sure, make sure nothing withing the distrubtor is going on.Laying a plug wire against grounded metal is poor practice. Buy a real spark-tester, calibrated for HEI.

The ignition system should throw a reliable spark across the business end of the spark tester--not occasionally, not with frequent misfires.
