What oil filter?

Are the adapters a Vortec thing? My oil filter is attached right to the block.

I thought it was all 4x4s due to the front drive shaft but now I'm not sure. More than likely it's needed because of the cooler lines

All 4x4s have the mount that is sideways, not all had oil coolers though I don't think.

Yeah, I didn't have an oil cooler, just 4x4. Just a side note, the 454 I pulled out of a Suburban has a 90* adapter, but it takes a larger diameter filter. Just throwing it out there in case someone wants to retain the stock setup but run a larger diameter filter. I think the SB and BB are interchangeable.

It's looking like many people are using the filter adpater above for their 350's, does anyone know if it is also a bolt on part for the 4.3l, 262 vortec v6?
