I have a 94 GMC Sierra SLE K1500 with 5.7 liter... I'm asking what is a fair market value on buying a used 14-bolt 3:73 geared 9.5 inch ring gear posi-tract differential ? Appreciate it and thank you...

Enter you car's info in here, find the cheapest "A" grade axle that you can either afford to ship or have time to drive and pick up at the yard.

I paid $375 for my 14b sf and $200 in shipping from KS to MN. The yard I picked my axle from only shipped to business addresses which was fine by me since I had a shop install my axle for me.

Salvage yard here in town wants 500.00... Out of a 93 c1500... Claims it's what I'm wanting....
The C1500 axle is
A. the wrong width for a 4WD,
B. Not likely to be a 14-bolt semi-float, although it's possible, and
C. Will not be a "posi-tract", but might be a G80 locker.

I paid $300 for a well-used G80 9.5" 3.42 axle probably ten years ago. I drove close to 800 miles round-trip to get it.

I paid $300 for another well-used "open" 3.73 9.5" axle with wheels and well-worn tires, locally, two years ago. Discovered that it has damaged side and spider gears when I popped the cover.

$300--$500 is entirely reasonable if it's got good gears, brakes with all the pieces intact and usable even if the shoes are worn, and G80 that works. Less than $300 if it's not G80 or has excess wear anywhere.

$500 is a bit high. I would call and try to talk them down. Don't be afraid to look elsewhere though too.

How can a C1500 axle be for a 4X4?

Where is this saying it's a "14-bolt, 9.5" ring-gear" unit?

Kinda guessing it's a piece-of-crap 10-bolt, open, for a 2WD, with the decimal point on the price moved-over one place. IF (big IF) this is a ten-bolt, $50 I could believe.

You go to their website and do a parts search there.... That's how it works..... My axle is 9.5 ring gear 3:73 geared 14-bolt ..... I was wondering the same thing on how can a C1500 truck work on a 4WD drivetrain...
