HFT has these $10. They're great. I have a couple of them.

I need a couple of these for the ammo box. Tried to get it all organized on Christmas, didn't stay like that for long

Here's a pic of my drawer. I don't use the magnetic drivers anymore, I like the locking 1/4" shanks that fit my Dewalt impact and Bosch quick connect driver.

Here's my 30+ year old tackle box I use for cleaning guns and it holds some of my spare shotgun chokes. I thought something like this, you can put your bits in the trays and the handles/ adapters in the bottom...

I've had a 37-slot magnetic bit holder for decades. Mine is bright orange, says "Blue Point" ink-stamped on one side, "Mechanics Time Savers" molded into the plastic on the other. This is the Made-In-USA original version of the item. They come in a bunch of different colors.

I suspect that It's what the green Olsa Tools and the red US General pictured above are imported knockoffs of. Works fine if you only have 36 bits and a bit-driver socket.

NAPA has them on sale for $7 through June 30, 2020. NAPAs are from the Carlyle line, and they're blue plastic. P/N CHT 581. Very possibly the same manufacturer as whoever is supplying Olsa and US General. I wanted to buy three of 'em, but they claimed to have only one in stock. I bought that one. It's clearly not as nice as my old Mechanics Time Saver "original" version. The MTS version has screws holding the magnetic bottom to the plastic body. The NAPA job apparently uses plastic spring clips, or adhesive--at any rate there's no screws.

Since I still wanted more hex-bit storage, I took a gamble on this 90-bit unit on Amazon. Again, advertised as Made In USA. Ordered...hasn't arrived yet. Tracking shows "Out for Delivery", so I'll find out how well it works very soon.

I have a few "kits" but my oddball/specialty bits are in a multi-comparment storage boxes similar to this:

There's a bunch of different configurations and styles of these boxes out there to build your own kit.

I've moved away from the magnetic tool/tray holders as I don't like metal grinding dust attaching itself to the tool holder and everything in it and I suffer from nerve damage in my hands and the magnetic holders will scatter your stuff if you happen to drop it.

In general, I don't like magnetic tool holders for the same reason as you--metal swarf from machining/grinding sticks to them. I have to say that it hasn't been a big problem with my bit-holder; which is why I was willing to buy another magnetic holder.

I figured out AFTER it arrived, that the 90-piece Ernst holder does not have magnets, it's a friction-fit or snap-fit deal.
