That's what I thought on the gear drive just wasn't sure. I've been wanting a cam for awhile now. I could do lifters a rods but not sure about the springs. I don't want anything super choppy just want to make it sound nice.

Yeah I've never heard of anyone running a cam with vortec injection.

I'd run the L-79 or the 1103 cam if you're just going for a mean. The l79 would be your best bet. But it's an old school cam most people tell you to stay away.

But I liked it when I had it works with stock vortec springs sounds mean and works with the old factory 7.794 push rods its got 447/447 lift.114 lobe sep 224/224 duration. Summit number k 1121

1103 cam is 112 lobe sep 444.466 lift 214/224 duration it's an old towing grind but it lopes.

Sounds like I might have to order me one of those cams personally either one would be fine for me but what would you recommend or what cam do you think is better?

Personally id use the L-79 cam it's got a better lobe sep lower lift so you could run it on stock vorte. Springs no prob. I think it's got more low end torque than the 1103. But I've never ran that cam though.

That's what I'm putting in my truck is the 1103 .I want to see how it does if not then I'm definitely going back to the L-79 cam.

Also could I run a gear drive?
Only if you're insane.

Don't buy a camshaft because of it's sound. Buy it because it makes power in the RPM range you need.

If you need to impress people you don't know and who don't care, remove and ground one spark plug wire a couple of blocks away from the Dairy Queen. Expect to damage your catalyst eventually.

Many of us have gotten away from the stock cam with vortec injection.
