Yep 8.1 only dbw setup .

But use a spacer / 454 vortec tb for dbc / flash pcm you can go backwards and make a 8.1 dbc .

The early years of the 8.1 in the 800s were DBC. I had one from an 02 3500 dually. Wish now I had it. After selling the Allison and the exhaust manifolds, I had the motor for free.

Yes, maybe it was like a 01-02 years they were DBC? I have a '04 8.1/Allison/ECU/harness pull-out combo sitting in my backyard. It's a DBW on that one.

I forget I have that thing back there, LOL. I bought it to swap into my K3500, but now I'm not too sure... I've also thought into buying a blown head gasket Duramax truck special and swapping it in that. That may actually be an easier swap now that I think about it.
