c3500-HD
So i got a 3500-HD truck and it had no hitch so i looked around and didnt like what i saw in options / price point / availability. . . .
So i have a stock gm hitch off a 95 c1500 truck and i based my design off it and BEEFED it up just a bit . So taking a known working design saved me time .
So i got out to my steel pile and grabbed some 3.5x6x5/16 L-IRON for the side plates . Then 4x4x1/4 square tube for the main tube .
Next was a builder 2x2" hitch 12" long and 2 5/8" D-rings and a chunk of 1/4" plate for the plug mount . Then 8 1/2" grd-5 bolts and stover crimp locknuts and THICK BEEFY over sized washers to bolt it all to the truck frame .
I used my hand drill for the starter holes . Then hypertherm xp45 plasma cutter for the big work . Dressed them all down with the 4.5" hand grinder with a 40 grit flap wheel . Once all ready i bolted it all up to the frame and burned it together for good .
Then i pulled it for 100% weld out and paint . Gave it 2 coats of rustoleum black and let it dry over night . Then i bolted it up for good this morning under the truck .
Now to wire in the plug and swap on the new flatbed and get to working this old girl with her 8.1L vortec and nv4500 with 4.63 gears .
