well, 1994 k1500 suburban this time, I was going down a logging road when i heard a strange noise, thought it was a branch stuck under the truck, turned out different... got a u-bolt and a piece of wood to make a half-assed repair, it holds in place for now, pretty good for a below-zero on the ground job imo, (I always drive around with a full set of tools.) Would ideally like to do a real repair, get the bracket replaced but its so tight and dark in there i cant see anything, nevermind the freezing part, that 43 gallon tank with skid plates is blocking access somewhat, if anyone has a link to the bracket, it would be appreciated, job dont look so bad on a pickup if you take the bed off especially but thats just not an option, and i would prefer to diy as inexpensive as possible...

First Guess: You can't buy a bracket unless you cut it off of a Treasure Yard frame. Most guys would fabricate one from heavy sheet steel.

That may work.. you would need to compare the frame rail height from the pickup to the suburban, if they are the same top bottom it would work.

yes, up here they salt until the cows come home, that being said the fact that the burb was generously bathed in oil over 3 decades has kept it (mostly) alive this far and i intend to continue to drown it in more oil on a regular basis
as for that frame, i guess it's off to the scrap yard for me with my trusty ikea paper tape measure to check the measurements, not anytime soon though since i don't have a garage and i dont feel like freezing my butt off, besides the u-bolt is doing it's job for now
side note, the factory u-bolt for the leaf spring also rusted and snapped in 2, that was quick, easy to fix and cheap however

back from the scrap yard, sadly i saw two gmt400s in there :( 93 & 96 extended cab long bed, they both had 4 leaf springs where the suburban has 6, then the frame is different, then the shock mounts are different, the trucks i looked at both had a round-style mount as seen in the video above and it looks simple to replace (and theres room to do it) as for the suburban its completely different, the mount is huge, it's actually part of a cross-memeber on the frame and not only supports the shock but also has a body mount sitting in there and holds up the gas tank, there's no way to fix it unless it's a body off restoration, strange thing is not all suburbans are like that, as seen in this video, but for me, it looks like that u-bolt "solution" is here to stay
