The factory starter on this truck has lasted over 26 years.
Agreed on that. Most likely built in US/Canada though. I really try for NOS or least US/Canada built. For the record, I have no experience with either of those above, just threw out a few options aside from likely Acdelco China built.

Just did a little more digging. The only Denso that's listed in their catalog as a direct replacement for my application is part number 2805164, which is also a reman. That's not necessarily a deal breaker... But if I'm going with something other than GM/ACDelco I'd really prefer one that's 100% new. Call me crazy.

I did find this example from Bosch, part number SR8551N. New production and $60 cheaper than the GM/ACDelco reman.

Anyone have experience with Bosch starters? Thoughts/Questions/Comments?

Isn’t the AcDelco 337-1018 new and not remanufactured? Description says it is.

It is, but it's part of their "Gold" line of parts. The 323-1064 I mentioned earlier is GM OE. Once again not sure how important that is, especially comparing new to reman...

Made in Mexico isn't a bad thing, my whole Burb came from there! That looks like the OE style starter to me. Some of the GR style don't look stout enough to turn over a V8....

So, you gonna change your Avatar to "4L60E AND Starter Destroyer" now?

Well technically I've killed two 4L60Es in these trucks, and only one starter so far. I think I need at least one more dead starter before I add that in.

IIRC @Schurkey posted some stuff about the PMGR (Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction) starters.

I believe you're right, I was hoping he would chime in.

GM Genuine/Acdelco is confusing. Here’s an example. First picture shows part on Acdelco site. They are listed together and as same part. I even emailed them and they confirmed it’s same part.

But on many sites, including RockAuto, they are listed separately and the “GM Genuine for considerably more.
