I had helper bags on my old crew cab. Only ran 5-10psi when empty, and it was enough to keep it from bottoming out, on the big stuff.
I hear y'all on the helper bags but it's another expense and potential failure point. I ran my C2500LD without helper bags and it only bottomed out harshly every now and then - again, it had the button-style bump stops, where these are more like the "active" rubber spring design that the GMT800 trucks have from factory. I don't think I have a single really clear picture of them but they're the light tan-colored beehive suckers in this pic, right there with the notch braces. They're easily 4x as tall as the short red ones that came with my 2500 kit.Truck does look good.
2nd on adding helper air bags-
I priced my front end, needs it too... and yeah I feel it.I hear y'all on the helper bags but it's another expense and potential failure point. So I just added up all the parts I need for the front end to be 100%.. without a whole bunch of shopping around, just went to Rock and picked brands I'm familiar with. All Moog on the suspension stuff including loaded control arms, tie rods, sleeves, idler, pitman arm. Raybestos on the calipers (new, not reman), rotors, and pads. $1069 with tax and shipping, after discount code. I haven't hit "place order" just yet........
Thousand here, thousand there..

For grins I compared prices on amazon and had found all identical products except the Raybestos rotors, but they had some similarly-priced Centrics. I would have saved only $20 on the total but gained quicker shipping, however that doesn't help me as it ends up arriving while I'm trying to sleep before going to work. Also figured amazon often slips on their delivery ETA's and the parts usually come from several various sellers. Went ahead and placed the order with Rock.Glad you finally found a shop that will work with you. I get to go through the same pain with my GMC in the not too distant future. I need to completely rebuild the front end on it as it has all original parts as well. And yeah, the $1000 price tag is kind of an ouchy!
