Ah gotcha. Shouldn't take too long before you send that 10 bolt to the grave :burnout:
Nope, not at all. I may pre-emptively get a 9.5 14B SF axle with 3.73 gears and just find me a set of 6 lug 15x8 rally wheels and do them to match my others lol.

For me it is more about strength. I may still build a bolt in 9" rear too. But that will come later down the road I want to get other things done lol.

...In addition, the 8.5" axle as used on GMT-400 pickups also got crappy leading/trailing shoe rear brakes of a mere 10" (254 mm?) diameter. The best thing you can do for your truck is to find a K2500 with 6-lug axles and the same gear ratio as what you have now, and swap the 9.5 axle in place of the crappy 8.5. The 9.5 axle is MUCH stronger, and has real (11.x, Duo-Servo) rear brakes as a wonderful upgrade...

You know, the brakes aren't that bad. I took your advice and keep using the parking brake and they stay adjusted. Wife's truck has a nice, firm & responsive brake pedal. My truck doesn't have a functional parking brake and so they suck after a year or so. Been looking for the magical 9.5 to swap into my truck but every single one I have found & looked at has either been tampered with or is broken. The first G80 8.5 I came across for the wife's truck was the one we nabbed. I just find it funny that I've been searching for three years with no luck and the first time we look for a good 8.5 for hers, we hit pay dirt. Anyone got a GT4 G80 9.5 they want to sell me?

I'm just waiting for someone to make a 9.5 front diff for our trucks. Think I'll be waiting till I die lol

Is that really necessary, least in stock form? Keep in mind that when you run 4x4, you're splitting the torque 50/50 front & rear.

Get a good look at those 6 lug Rally's. The square holes are larger; other than the lug pattern, the wheels are similar but different enough to notice. I'd go ahead and go 6 lug all the way around. Up front is super easy with just a C2500 "LD" rotor swap.

Or find a rear end from a 454SS truck - 5 lug 14 bolt :waytogo: Like finding hen's teeth.
True, but if you really wanted to stay 5 lug, these days the better option is likely to get custom axles from Moser to swap out in the 6 lug axle. Those 454SS rears have got to be hard to find anymore and gonna be $$$ if the seller has any idea it's an uncommon item (and they probably do.)

I think I've seen guys kinda "build" a 454SS rear end from those parts you mentioned on the pt.net website.
