Im am trying to find a stock Master over haul kit for my 97 yukon 4l60e. I have the shallow pan bell housing, one piece transmission .
I cant understand what kit im looking for . I see some kits labeled 95-98 95-02 I clearly fall into both category's.
These are the two company's im looking to buy a kit from . Any one who is actually a transmission builder have a answer for me.
Thank you

Andy I do have a ATSG rebuild manual so I should be ok with that I also own the boxwrench DVD. (On side not Boxwrenches customer service is horrible) It pretty much brings you step by step . Ive used it before and It was great. I personally feel if you cant follow along with that I probably shouldnt be doing this type work.
3 , 4 years ago when I first purchased the truck it had no reverse. Ive already been inside it and replaced the sungear 2-4 band , switched to a covertte servo and replaced the whole valve body to a brand new reman.
Fast forward 4 years latter the transmission is starting to slip so I just need to do a full rebuild. So im not totally in the dark but would rather buy a master kit and be done.
I most likely will buy a new sungear again , because there so cheap and they fail constantly why not right?
Thank you for the link and the offer of the book.
What spring compressor did you use? I was going to grab the one in this link . Will it do all my clutch springs?
Ive pretty much decided to use this kit link at the bottom . For the money it looks great it has everything a master kit does and more. It has allot of things the kt you listed doesnt like the three boned pistons , seals even comes with assembly lube and free shipping. Even though the kit you provided does have far superior parts . Its not what im looking for .
Again though really thank you for the help and relpy.

For the spring compressor I used this

Worked good for the reverse drum and the one in the case. I have a drill press and flipped it over and Put the threads in the press and used it to press down on the input drum return spring. Wasn't the best method but it worked for me. The tool for the input drum return spring is only about 30 bucks. I forgot to order it and had the trans apart and didnt have time to wait another week for it. If I have to build another one I'll get the proper tool. How are you going to resize the Teflon seals on the input shaft and pump?

Probably funnel and black tape method. Im not spending 100$ on that tool if I dont have to . If I did it for a living ya but there is no point to use it once .
I have a cnc machine shop and welder so Ill probably just make a crude spring compressor . Ive seen people make them they dont look complicated. I have all the material already in my shop.
I just pulled the transmission today . 5 hours or so today and few yesterday . Sucked doing it by my self on the ground. Its also raining here in the North east .

This is what I did. Cut a plastic coke bottle and use hose clamps to resize them.

I didn't rip any of the rings that way. I wrapped them with electrical tape sticky side out. Cut the plastic about 1/8" shy of going all the way around. Make sure the rings are seated properly. Then I tightened the hose clamps. Had them on for about 2 days while I was working on the rest of the trans. For the pump I used 3 5" hose clamps that were combined into one big one. Used two of the bolts through the bolt holes to get started. Then tighten the clamp. Look through the bolt holes to make sure their centered.

Make sure you put some of the trans gel on the funnel before you stretch the ring. And use the plastic from the bottle to slide it into place. Start from the bottom ring and work up
