Seems like i cant win!

Ok I swapped to Carb from tbi. I went with crane cam #intake 100172, performer intake and was running a eddy 600 Carb. Drove for a week... shaped from the eddy to a Holley 600with vacuum secondary. Started up the truck advanced the timing just a hair. Set idle drove down the road to test TB cable tranny wouldn't shift to third. Tightened up the cable but still won't shift to third. Or OD. Yesterday I cranked it just to play with the cable somemore but after 5 min the factory muffler turned red hot and smoked boiled off of it. I dono what the hell!
