I've mentioned this in a few other places but you can get a Chinese clone of a GM Tech 2 for around $300. I haven't had a chance to do much with mine yet but I'm very happy with it so far. It's a self contained tool which can also be used with a computer for more intensive applications like programming modules. Only works with GM products up to 2013, but it has lots of capabilities that other more universal tools don't. I've got a thread on the subject here.
