rear end swap question

i have a 92 z71 with 3.73 gears and an open diff rear end. i hate the open diff rear end. (my first vehicle with it)

i can get the a 3.42 gear g80 rear end from a 95 up z71.

i want to keep my 3.73s but i want the g80. what would be the easiest thing to do.

Swap the 3.73s into the 3.42 rear end
or
Swap the g80 from the 3.42 rear end into my 3.73 open diff rear end.

any and all help will be helpful. and how would i do either swap, what would i need to perform either swap. thanks

Be easier to find a rear with the 3.73's & the G80. Then it's a simple swap.

Either way, you're going to have to set up the gears....

no trouble setting the gears i was wanting to make sure that im not going to need to change the carrier at all. my dad had changed 3.08s to 3.42s in his 76 2wd pickup and had to get a carrier adapter.

Yeah its a 10 bolt. I also have access to a 14 bolt sf open diff. Not sure on price though. How hard is it to do install a locker into a 14 bolt sf. And do you have to modify the drive shaft to install it.

Yeah. On a 4wd rcsb non z71 and I think its a 94 can't remember though and I don't know the gear ratio
