BTW forgot when it gets hard to steer pay attention if it gets hard to just the left or right also had a issue shortly after that ended up being a check valve issue in the gear box after rest of the system was replaced

The evo system is finky had an issue with mine just randomly no p/s assist. Was sketchy at times in a curve and loose all assist and then all of a sudden comes back 110%
Yes I've heard that from several members. Burb has it too, so far as I know, no issues with it. Mom is not big, and she's not as strong as she used to be, so any help steering these big trucks is a good thing.
Do you think it's possible the evo piece is the source of the leak? I'm thinking the pump shaft seal or case seal have shrunk, from the truck sitting so much; that happened a lot to the Saginaw pumps back in the day.
I'll try to get under it again and clean the stuff that looks suspicious. Then I have a baseline, and that's a big part of diagnostics: seeing what the variables are from your starting point.

Another thing that makes it harder for me to figure out exactly what is going on, is whenever we're trying to park the truck, often the wheel is turned almost to full lock one side or the other, and the steering geometry on these trucks is set up so that you have to put some foot in the throttle, to get it to move. On smooth pavement, the front wheels will sorta skid over a little bit, first noticed this with the other 99 Burb, getting it positioned to load in at an indoor car show. Front tires chirping, as you're trying to move it around....

Things were going okay... until this past Tuesday. So that sent me and Mom and Burb to the yard, to see what I could find for repairs. Allstate rep hasn't returned our calls so still no idea what they'll pay for. Hopefully a grille since that's the hardest part to find used. Every parts truck on Facebook is hit in the front....
Good news is, I found a dirty but decent bumper, and a brush guard like Rawhide's (maybe keep this from happening again?!).

Around here, it seems the grilles are always the first thing to get picked, at the yards. I wound up buying a new one from CarID, thinking I was getting a smooth, no bowtie grille, but got one with the full bowtie surround instead, like OE. I didn't mind it, so kept it.

If you get desperate, may call them and see if they have a chrome one. Mine was paintable.

I’m building one for my Dodge, my drawing of it looks horrid but I hope it doesn’t look bad. It’ll have tow hooks, winch mount, and some lights to mount on it. I can send you the rough draft if you want it.

Back in my Jeepin' days we called those things damage multipliers. They aren't strong enough to really prevent anything and sometimes a rock/tree/whatever that you wouldn't have otherwise hit causes it to push into the thing you were trying to protect in the first place.
