I'm Awesome
Same as me, 2000 or better. Stock BU82 I think? Small block 4L80 torque converter. Where it stalls depends on how much juice you make.
I have run two different ones, three if you count having a B82 restalled.. I have run the 4.3/Smallblock B82 4L80E converter and a much smaller 11" diameter Phoenix Trans (Weatherford,TX not the imposter in AZ) 2,600. I have also used the GM 4.3 S10 stalls in numerous 700r4/4L60Es. My old G-van, my Express van when it still had a 60E, my brothers Suburban and my Tahoe with a 305 all stalled more than 2,500 rpm with one. The 99 DCNF 4.3 converter stalled 2,800 behind the 350 in his suburban and about 2,600 behind the cammed 305 in my Tahoe.
This is the 2,600 I ran in my 4L85E in my Express that stalled 2,700. I ended up pulling it back out when I put the 5.13 geared 10.5" rear end in it. I had a GM B82 loosened up a little by a local converter builder. It stalls about 2,800 rpm and has a much higher STR than the small Phoenix converter.

This is how they ran behind a moded L31 and in a heavy van with only a 3.73 gear. 30.5" tall 20s on it at the time. Same exact engine, trans, gearing, tires, etc. Just the converter change and tuning changes. I had to add a ton of pump shot to the acceleration fuel with the small converter because the engine wanted to wrap up in RPM alot more quickly. However with the lack of STR the higher stall speed and higher engine speed are barely noticeable in acceleration. Moral of the story get the highest STR you can find for a given stall speed.
