Do I need primer?

I just need to repaint my hood. Most of the clearcoat is off due to the sun. I have duplicolor orange-red and some clear coat. Both spray cans. Do I need to spray some primer or can I just sand the top coats off and re spray?

Since the clear coat is coming off make sure you sand it down good and get all of the existing clear coat off of it. It would probably be a good idea though to give it a coat of filler primer and sand it before you paint it.
