Yeah, stock the 350 has a 5600 cut which is a bit high. I lowered mine to 5400 but I'll probably put it back. I kept hitting it when I was playing with the 1-2 upshift targeting 5200. The truck isn't super consistent. I probably dropped it closer to 5000 for the dually. Never had that screw with the relearn though, you just stomp the gas until it farts around 4000, lift and it's done.

The rev limiter HAS to be at 5600 or the truck will not do a relearn, no matter what you do.

To get HP tuners to do a relearn via the scanner there are some signal wires at the ECU for the E-brake applied/not applied that have to be jumped and grounded also in order to get the relearn to happen.

i have the 2 wires grounded mentioned here (and followed all instructions): https://www.gmt400.com/threads/bowtie-brodys-namesake-96-454.37609/post-1245947

do i have to spin the 454 up to 5600 rpms? that terrifies me....

and, will HP Tuners actually alert when the relearn is successful? or am i supposed to just assume it happens after I press OK and go through the song and dance?

When @Mangonesailor and I did the relearn on my truck we tried twice, adjusted the rev limiter and tried it again and it took the minute we had modified the tune; it hit rev limiter, relearn complete and it backed down.

It won't hit 5600, it will stop itself at 4000 for the relearn. I may go try a relearn myself with the rev cut set at 5400 just to try and prove you guys wrong. :p

i have the rev limit set at 4500 right now in P/N so that's where it's capping, even during relearn. doesn't seem to be taking.

so you are all saying i need to bump the redline up to 5600 and send it.. along with grounding the two pins, brake/e-brake dance, etc?

I believe there's detailed steps in the 454 thread?

Please do prove me wrong, I did my swap in 2019 and tried 3 or 4 times to perform a relearn, half of the times being with a professional grade scanner. It took me and Mangonesailor a lot of head scratching and some tweaking to finally get the process simplified.
---------------
Back to the subject at hand.

Windshield replacement done! Guy came out yesterday and had it done in 2 hours, it looks awesome!
Cleaned up some of the janky wiring and removed the trailer harness, I'm going to take a page out of Dave's book on his 6.5 and wire in the same style GMT800 plug and replaceable 7/4 pole connector.
Went to start it and the DieHards are dead. Again. Hopefully Advanced Auto Parts will just warranty the damn things instead of charging them this time.

I'm not familiar with this GMT800 plug, got more info? I'm tired of replacing broken aftermarket 7 pin connectors on my 1500.

Basically the gist is using the factory "tow package" harness that's taped up under the bed and wiring in GMT800 round plug. I was just going to grab a pigtail off a GMT800 in the junkyard but I believe you can get a replacement harness pretty easy.
I've got a few pictures saved and a few part numbers for what I plan to use. I know I'm definitely going to rewire my K2500's 7/4 pole at some point using this method.
