I’m working on a 2000 K3500. After extensive diagnostics, I’m thinking I need an ECM. I’m trying to do this on a budget. Is there a way to swap a salvage yard ECM in with no programming / flashing? I’m fine with key cycling, but really don’t want to pay to have it programmed.

If you can find a '98+ GMT400 that is exactly the same as yours regarding drivetrain stuff (engine, transmission, 2WD/4WD, gear ratios) then it'll work. If any one of those things is different, something's not going to be right.

EDIT - Being a '98+ you will have PassLock. I'm not sure as I've never had to deal with it personally, but if there were any differences in the PassLock modules over the years then you may have issues with that going to a salvage yard PCM.
