The way I read that description, it's the 10" brakes, not the 10-bolt axle, that is important to the fitment of their kit.I know these aren’t your favorite people @Schurkey, but according to Little Shop, and I’ve also read elsewhere that some 454SS’s got the light duty 10b.

I could be wrong though.
It sounds to me like a standard 2WD 14 bolt semi floater with 11" brakes and 454SS shafts would actually be an upgrade over a real 454SS axle, if the OEM 15" wheels will clear the 11" brakes. Not sure about that...
My '66 Biscayne had 11" drums and 14" wheels.put a 6 lug 14 bolt in a 99 K-1500 classic 15s clear just fine
backspacing was quite different then, but the axle in question isnt that much different from that lol. So win winThe way I read that description, it's the 10" brakes, not the 10-bolt axle, that is important to the fitment of their kit.

This might help with this question. I deleted my sketch. This I would hope is more accurate. Are both single wheel? What brake option on each (JB5/JB6)? A picture of bare axle housing ends with measurements of backing plate mounting flange hole distances would be great!! jt
Well in that case you are spending money in the wrong end of your truck... Having said that... I have no idea what your options are in the front. But I'm pretty sure others do....The main reason I'm doing this is for better braking! The 4.8 LS I put in the truck is plenty fast, but the current brakes are really not up to the task of getting me stopped quickly

I"m sure it will not be a total waste going for better rear brakes... But the better the brakes the less weight on the rear axle while braking...If your rear brakes don't do anything then there's absolutely a reason to upgrade it. 1500 rear bias is a bit light anyway, even with well maintained brakes.
