this is one of the main calculators I use for gears.
gives you a ton of variables to calculate just about every combination you could think of

What do these numbers mean lol? Sorry if its dumb question.

Basically I tried comparing my stock 342 vs a 410 just for giggles. My goal a 373 like Kenny. But I'm 2wd and some of these rpms look higher then what my guage reads lol. Just trying to understand it better more or less

first step: you can select your transmission or you can enter in custom ratios you have on one side. in the drop down you can select pretty much every GM auto and can find the Muncie, borg-warner, and tremec trans as well. the other side is so you can compare any changes you want to make to the original setup you are looking at.
second step choose your transfer case; if you don't have one just leave it blank
3rd step: if you have an under drive, select it from the drop down or enter in the ratios in the fields, if you dont have one you can leave it blank
4th step: enter in your desired rear gear ratio
5th select your tire size
click off the fields on the background and it should populate everything in the charts.
crawl speed will show you the low gear range and you can set the RPM's to look at speed and Feet per sec
3rd chart will give you speed in each trans gear at the given RPM range
4th will show you the RPMs in each gear for a given speed

I filled it out with basic info for a 1993 c1500
the bottom for the 3.42 rear and then the last attachment is if you changed to 4.10 gears. should give you an idea on how to fill it out and change the numbers as you need to
as long as the attachements show in order
basically stock you should run 60 mph around 1990 RPMs in overdrive with the 3.42
with the 4.10 you are looking at 2386 RPM at 60 mph

Parts are here. I unboxed everything and checked all by eye. It all looks rite. I put 2 plastic butter bowls in the box for bolts I remove. I will start by pulling the diff at the shop on Sunday. The shop owner said He will make me a pinion bearing spacer to set the pinion depth. I figure this will take several days, being I really want things set up as close to perfect as I can get them.

Does your shop have a hoist? When I did mine without a hoist, we (my son and I) dropped the whole rear end and put it up on my work bench. Made it a lot easier for this 65 (at the time) year old fart who doesn't do bend overs well! Just saying :33:
