Why do our suvs get such sh¡tty mileage?

Your 4WD isn't helping any, nor the larger tires. My Burb gets over 15mpg running 75+ on the interstate, 17 to 18 if I keep it under 70.

Driving around town and to work and school (10 miles each way on the highway) I average 11-13 mpg..it's a 97 with the 350.. All I have is a true dual exhaust done to it so far

My Tahoe was getting about 280 till empty. New distributor and now it gets about 330 miles till empty.

14.2 combined city/highway today when I filled up my truck. Guessing about 60/40 split. That is with a 5 speed HM290 transmission.

Still at 14.2-14.6 to and and from work which is two lane 55 mph roads, jumped to 16 on the last tank since I had 100 miles of the 265 miles straight interstate.
