Small game is too much work, I need to get at least two full meals out of an animal to justify the work... Deer, Goose, Turkey, Salmon, etc. Those small critters that can barely make a sandwich just isn't worth it IMO.

A buddy of mine grew up poor in the Ozarks. He and his brothers took their .22s to school every day, and on the way home they hunted for their dinner. He can tell you what everything tastes like. He said squirrels were good eating, but you had to collect several and they weren't really worth it. He said opossum had plenty of meat, but it was really greasy. Rabbit was what they were always trying to get, but they were hard to find.

Then he joined the Air Force. "Here's the chow hall. It's open 24/7 and it's all you can eat." He thought he'd died and gone to heaven.
