Oil filter adapter

I bought a oil filter adapter for a 5.7. I've heard good and bad about putting gasket maker on it. And putting a plug in also.

What " plug " are referencing? No sealant required. You don't want any flaking off into oil system passages.

I watched a video on YouTube. And the guy took the spring out. And put a plug in. I forget the reasoning behind it.

Sure. You can disable the oil filter bypass. Some guys do that to assure that there's never any unfiltered oil getting to the engine.

OTOH, plugging the bypass makes absolutely certain that if the oil filter fills up with debris, or if the element collapses, no oil at all gets to the engine.

"I" would never block the oil filter bypass.
