.510 lift and heavier springs should have a trip to the machine shop for clearance. Also screw in studs.

Also forgot to mention. The 0.510" number I mentioned is with the seals fully seated. Will not hurt a thing having them fully seated either. I know of another guy that found the same thing. Then added beehives, retainers and locks and got to 0.600" clearance.

I don't run a 0.050" margin. 0.030" is more than enough. I ran a F-car LT1 cam and 1.6s at 0.028" for more than 30K miles. 0.490" lift on the exhaust. We are not exactly talking a high rpm race engine here. If its a black box it is limited to about 5,800 rpm and I shift these at 5,500 with the stock intake manifold. To my knowledge that suburban is still running great. I still see it around town.

The Ramjet crate engine was setup the same way and GM warrantied them.

Supercharged fully seated his valve seals and runs the stock springs and retainers with the 395' cam and 1.6s too. 0.481" lift on the exhaust. Has been running that way for several years.

I have swapped several to 787 retainers and beehives. Clearance to run over .550 lift. Have yet to pull out or break a press in stud either. I had one with over 380 lbs open spring pressure running .554 lift that shifted at 6,500 rpm too.
