I've just took out the transfer case as it had a broken bearing and needs rebuilding.

My thread about it.

Since I put the front wheels on a ramp to get better access, lots of transmission fluid came out therefore this would be a perfect time to change the ATF.
I am looking at rockauto and they have several different gaskets and filters whit different heights, shapes.

Is there a way of figuring out what exact part I need just by the RPO codes? If not, how do I figure out what part to order?

I just saw your TC thread. Nice you found the problem.

On your transmission, can you post a photo of the oil pan? I'm pretty sure it's the "deep pan." But you need to confirm. The bottom of that pan has a step and requires the deep pan filter.

I recall there's also a pan that has the corner clipped off on the 4L60e, but don't remember the years for those.

I'll try to take a pic but right now its jacked up on blocks of wood.

If it is a deep pan, then can I just pick any of the ones that say deep pan from here?
Rockauto

I would like to order all the parts at the same time as shipping to Canada is not cheap.

Thanks.

I took a few pictures of the pan.
Would this be enough to identify what seal and filter i need?

Thanks

I really can't tell from those photos; seems like a little higher on the first photo may show the bottom profile of the pan. Maybe someone here can determine.

The gaskets I believe are the same, just the filter is different....

I think I figured it out after reading this article.

https://www.gmtransmissionparts.com/4l60e-Filter-Pan-Style-Guide/

looks like I have the deep style.

Although it is still confusing. On rock auto site there are different "deep filters" available, 2-1/4, 2-7/8, and 3-1/4 depth. How am I supposed to know which on to buy?

Thanks for the help.
First, it helps a lot if you provide the info for your vehicle. To wit:
Year?
1500? 2500? Etc?
Truck or Suburban or Tahoe?
C or K?
Manual or Auto?
What color is the paint?…

Now that I’m done harassing you…
Pics look like a deep pan 4L60E.
Most 1500’s, particularly K1500’s came with the deep pan beginning in mid 97.

The different depths of filters you’re seeing on Rock Auto are most likely for different transmissions—early 4L60E, later 4L60E, 4L80e…..

OP provided year and RPO code: M30

Based on what I see there, it looks like 2 1/4 is the "shallow" pan and 2 7/8 is the "deep" pan. I don't see 3 1/4. And you don't have the 4L80e so ignore that one.

You are probably confused because it says something like, "2 1/4 deep pan." Deep means depth...

Well, the specs of my car are in my sig line. I thought it was quite obvious, but I'm sorry for not including it in the post.

It's for a 1998 GMC K1500 Suburban Vortec 5.7 4WD

If I go to rock auto and select my vehicle, year, etc, all the filters are listed for the 4L60E.
They are listed as short and long, the long ones seem to come in different depth hence the confusion.
There is the link; https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...v8,1304952,transmission-automatic,filter,8600

How am I supposed to chose the correct one?

That helps a lot.
The 3 1/1 is when clicking on one particular filter it shows that in the product picture; https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6877392&cc=1304952&pt=8600&jsn=12

So to conclude, I'm looking for a 2 7/8 filter.

Thank you!!!
