IM NEW HERE AND LOOKING FOR SOME HELP. i HAVE A 98 GMC Z71. CURRENTLY BUILDING A LQ4 TO DO AN LS SWAP. THE TRUCK HAS A 4L60E IN IT WHICH SIMPLY WONT HOLD UP TO THE HP. IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO CONVERT THE TRUCK TO A 5 SPEED. JUST FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IT SEEMS THE CORRECT CHOICE WOULD BE A NV4500. THE TRUCK WILL NOT BE SEEING ALOT OF OFF-ROADING NOR WILL IT BE TOWING HEAVY LOADS. MY QUESTION IS WHAT TRANS WILL BE BEST SUITED FOR MY BUILD AND WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO MAKE IT HOLD THE HP WITHOUT BREAKING? THANKS

450hp isn't enough to justify the power loss of an 80e imo

A 4500 would be fine but keep in mind that it is a truck tranny. It will not shift quick.

A 60e easily could

This. If you already have a 60E, I'd just rebuild it with stronger internals. A well built 4L60E will handle way more power than that.

Either an NV 4500 that isn't the low range version with granny low first, or a built 4L80E, I like my 80 and the way it doesn't loose as much speed on the 1-2 shift like a 60 does since the gear ratios are closer together.
