Busted my tail this weekend to get this thing finished. Finally got her back together and running today. I had some issues at first trying to burp the cooling system, then had misfire and injector issues. I got everything sorted out and found that cylinder 1 and 3 injectors had come unplugged. Crazy thing is that it still ran as good on 6 cylinders as it did before all the work. Once I got it running right, I took it for a spin, and oh boy did it surprise me! As soon as you mash the pedal, it throws you in your seat until you let off! Im ready now to get it tuned properly in person and see what it puts down on the dyno.

It has been a while since I've posted anything, so here is an update. I've already put roughly 2,000 miles on the burb since the cam swap, and it is running like a top! I finally got it on the dyno this past Saturday and it put down 360 rwhp, and 375 rwtq! Not quite the 400 I was hoping for, but that's still a great improvement over the 314 rwhp and 343 rwtq before. The tuner had to work out several issues from the mail order tune I had previously, but now it lopes at idle like it should, drives very smoothly when you want it to, and throws you in the seat when you put it to the floor! I'm pretty happy with it for the time being. I'll be saving up for a Performabuilt trans and a Yank TT3000 convertor. I may look into an aluminum driveshaft and an underdrive pulley too, just to help reduce power loss from drag on the powertrain.

That's proof positive right there! Putting in the work and then seeing and posting the true dyno numbers. No BS. I like it! The Burb is bad ass and the work you've put in is top notch. Well done!

An update on the Burb:

Saturday I went to drop off my 799 heads for my buddy to clean up, port, mill, do a valve job, and install new rockers and springs.

After that I headed off to have my new flange welded on for free at the exhaust shop the dealership that rebuilt my transmission last uses. They had cut out my flange I had before and welded in a piece of pipe straight to my header because they thought my band clamp was broke and said the gasket was bad. (I had a new set of gaskets waiting at home). Upon arriving home, I went to unbolt the flanges to inspect the rattling noise and install my new gaskets. Upon inspection, I discovered that the jerkwad left the piece of 2.5" pipe he had cut out inside of my new 3" flange. I was very nice and patient with them and they wanted to be blunt and petty. If you live in the Rowan county area, I would advise to stay away from Johnny's Muffler in Salisbury.

While I was under the truck working on the exhaust, I noticed coolant dripping from the bottom of the bellhousing. I tracked down the source of the leak to the rear corner of the drivers side head gasket. I plan on pulling the engine apart this weekend and going ahead with my cam swap.

Later I was helping my girlfriend bag up and unload leaves at her church. I was backing up and thought I was clear of the basketball goal. When I looked back in my drivers mirror, I noticed I didnt see the goal anywhere, so I instinctively went to hit the brakes. As soon as my foot touched the pedal, "WHAM!" it was too late. I got out and saw the damage, and was pissed at myself for ruining a perfectly good bumper and rear quarter panel. Luckily, my rear barn door appears to be straight, and it didnt damage my tailight any. Now I have an excuse to get a k2xx rear bumper for it!

I always love how clean your Suburban is and that you keep it going! I am probably partial because my first OBS truck was grey and I hated parting with it but I always enjoy seeing this thread.
Thank you. I appreciate it!
