You're worried about the weight of brakes on a 4000-5000# truck?
Right, the weight of the brakes is "un-sprung".
If you're trying to go fast over stutter-bumps in a light weight vehicle then un-sprung weight is of concern.
Or, on a vehicle that must follow the terrain closely at speed.
On a heavy truck that moves kinda slowly over most any really rough surface worrying about un-sprung weight is a "tempest-in-a-teapot."

I really didn't notice a difference in that going from an 8.5 to a 9.5. In a heavy ass truck, that sort of thing just isn't going to be good unless you really open up your wallet.
