I'm Awesome
Hello all,
I have a few questions for someone with hopefully a little more knowledge than me.
A little history first.
About 10,000 miles ago I installed a lockright "lunchbox" locker. Fast forward a few years, I found my axle seals leaking and decided it was time to take care of it.
Long story short, I found my old cross shaft had a few burrs on it (from the lockright I would guess) it's the factory shaft and I figured no big deal, I will order a new one.
Ordered a new Yukon shaft and bolt and upon assembly I found the shaft has a little bit of play in either direction with the bolt installed. And by a little bit I mean maybe a 1/16- 1/8" of an inch. The play is not in the carrier, it's in the hole in the shaft and or the pin. Almost like the pin is a smaller diameter or the hole is a pinch to big. I guess I was just wondering if that was normal or not...
Also: I can take the old shaft/old bolt and insert the bolt in the shaft in the bench and move the them a little bit in one another. My main question for asking this is I feel with that little bit of "slack" the cross pin shaft is putting a lot of stress on the bolt that holds it. The last thing I want is it to grenade. So if anyone knows if this seems normal or not I would appreciate it. I have a video of me moving the shaft in and out in the carrier and the play can be seen, but I have no idea how to upload a video.... Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Jarred
