Ckockwise. And i learned this from a gm service bulletin when i worked at dealership in late 90s. The shafts wear and get clearance in them causing them to get aginst the throttle body. The bulletin had us use a real narrow .005 feeler gauge and set a air gap. So wouldn't that be fixing the problem? Listen to whoever you want on it and spend all you want it yours not anyone elses.
Link to bulletin would be super helpful. I suspect like most TSB's it has info on determining if this is in fact the problem before proceeding with the recommended fix.

87-92 was the throttle bodies in bulletin, supposedly the ones after was open more already and they called them "revised". Pretty much if tps had the flat plug and customer complained we would fix them. We had replacement plugs that came in the little kit, even had the torx we needed with the kit. Ill see if i can find the bulletin

Flat plug ended in '90 though; '91 went to the smaller round plug. But yes, the bulletin would be appreciated. It's first I've heard of it so some official info would be awesome.

Sometimes someone on the production line grabs the wrong parts, or it could have been changed at some time during the truck's life before you got it. Crazy what some people do to these trucks (see thread: am I supposed to have a 2 piece drive shaft?). I'd wonder if the 2500/3500 were built on a different line than the 1500, so different parts bins....

Every time I come across this thread the 'baffle' on the throttle plate keeps coming to mind....

That, and the fact that my screw has had its cap removed and discarded....

And that Vortecs have a weird self opening action. If you very gently from under the hood raise the rpm from idle, at around 2000 rpm the linkage feels like it's going over-centre. Presumably an aerodynamic effect (causing a pressure imbalance on the two butterfly halves) from the baffle.

Just thought I would add my .02. I have run into a number of TBI and Vortec TBs that would stick at idle which could not be fixed by cleaning. My impression is there is slight wear between throttle arm and adjustment screw which can often be seen as a slight dimple on the arm. Always clean the bores and edges of the butterflies first as that often takes care of the problem, but I have had to adjust quite a few to eliminate the sticking.
