    TBI Engine Question

I'm assuming everything is mechanically good on your current 5.7. I don't think you'll be particularly happy TBI swapping an old carb engine. Rebuilding them for good power is generally associated with running a carburettor. Honestly, if you're committed to staying with TBI (hey, I'm not...

    1996 350 Vortec Coolant Leak

I've always re used them. Just make sure they're clean and check for leaks after you're done.

    Replacing radiator hose clamps

I run the factory style clamps until they start leaking and then put screw type hose clamps on. The trick IMO with the spring clamps is get them back in the exact same position they were before. I don't have the tool, but I've found channel locks work pretty well on the spring clamps. Either...

    A real tear jerker

Here in rusty Eastern Canada I could probably sell that back bumper for the price of the truck.

    '98 K2500 RCLB 454 NV4500 Daily/Hauler

I want that truck. RCLB have always been my favourite. You can actually fit stuff in them and they're not too long to fit through the Timmies drive through

    The fleet

Meanwhile, bought another one. 1993 K2500 eclb. 6.5 turbo, mechanical injected, 4L80e. PO broke the crank, pulled the motor and tranny and lost interest. Long story how the deal happened but she's sitting with no guts waiting for a plan. I've got a massive amount of 6.5 parts that came with...

    The fleet

Ok so two GMT400 threads was enough to keep track of. Now there's three in the collection, so everything is going into one thread. You already know this truck: And this truck: Green '94 is the daily. Needs a little work but I drive it and use it every day. The HD blew up last fall and I...

    2001 C3500HD 8.1

Don't see too many of these around. Too expensive and I can't imagine what the fuel bill would be like, but these things are beasts with the 8.1 http://www.kijiji.ca/v-other-heavy-equipment/moncton/gmc-1-tonne-dump/1189274407

    1994 GMC K2500 light duty

Thanks man. I've always liked steel rims. I've just got a thing for the stock aluminums. I seem to be one of the few lol. I just wish it was 8 bolt so I could run PYOs. By far my favourite

I got a free truck, but...

If at all possible I'd try to get a parts truck with the engine/transmission you want. That way you'll have everything you need and it will be that much easier to measure stuff/see how it fits together. I'm normally a "run what I have till it blows up" kind of guy, and those 4.3s are pretty...

    Duramax Swap

This. Duramax are cool, but Cummins is the way to go. Easier, cheaper, and a much more reliable engine.

Changed EVERYTHING, Still misfiring.... 97K1500-5.7vortec (stock)

Be very careful of the big plug with a million wires going into the top of the spider injector assembly. Go over all the little connections with a fine tooth comb. I had a problem with it once after an engine swap. Took me awhile to figure out what the problem was. This started right after the...

    Overall need help

X2. Fix IAC wiring first, then proceed. No point going any further if it's messed up IMO. I would also spend a little time going over your ground wires. Not suggesting it's your problem, but it's usually one of the first things I do when I have any kind of electrical problem.
