most of the time they leak from the seals on the high pressure side or from the seal between the pump and resevoir

my guess would be the seal between the pump and resevoir seeing how its coming from behind the pump on the block side of it

Leaking between pump and tank....weld the seam shut!!! No I've never done that before, but I saw a guy doing it to his new pump when he replaced it, said he wasn't wanting to have to change it again lol.

Pulling a P-pump apart is really easy. You just undo the bolt and the output fitting and then tap the can off the body.

The OD of the body has an o-ring groove that seals against the sheetmetal can.

As for pulling the pump to begin with, it's a pain in the ass with the fan on. The interference fit is very snug to hold the power it sucks and it's slow going by hand but there isn't clearance for much else. I would leave the belt on, pulling the pulley will slack it so you can get it out of the way to put it back on after.

Definitely rent the pulley puller. It may break, usually the threaded stud used to reinstall twists and yields, be prepared to go back to the store to get another puller/installer.
