Well this is cool, just a bunch of crap you had laying around becomes a nice torquey 350.
The basic idea, clean the junk out of the shop and make a nice little engine at the same time. A buddy just offered me a L31 short block too that ran when he pulled the heads off to put on his 350 in his C10 he owned. The last short block I got from him was a Gen IV 5.3L that he had robbed the 799s off. It went to a buddy that spun a rod bearing in his Tahoe.

My days and nights are so far off lately. Just wrapped it up and about to sleep a few hours before the parts stores open. Need a new timing cover, some new intake bolts, a rear main seal housing gasket, and a set of valve cover gaskets. Actually found some Felpro 98000s in the box new. I am not a huge fan of them, but already have them, so on they went.

The Delco Upgrade spider I pulled out of the van a while back should be back hopefully tomorrow. I shipped it out to have it cleaned, flowed and resealed. Much cheaper than buying a new one.

Those vortec heads are the best flowing smallblock chevy heads of all time, even better than the 2.02 valve Lt-1 heads of 70-71. That gm cam with the 115 deg lca will cost you 20-40 ft-lb though. Comp cams stuff is finally coming back in stock. I'm holding up my own L29 build for 2 more months to get one, even though I spent 200-something getting my stock one reground.

the cam is on a 112* LSA. while the last one I used was more like 202/210 @ .050, it was definitely on a 112* LSA.

This one is definitely not on a 112. Intake Lift maxed out on a 111 centerline and Exhaust on a 120 centerline.

Here is what I measured.

269/295 @ 0.004
258/282 @ 0.006
200/216 @ 0.050
171/185 @ 0.100
149/155 @ 0.150
118/130 @ 0.200
82/96 @ 0.250
18/38 @ 0.300
0.3015/0.310 lobe lift
111 ICL and 120 ECL
