Dorman hinge pins are garbage.

Since this thread is getting attention again, I will up date. The set I got off of E-Bay are holding up grate. Maybe it has something to do with the install, IDK. You have to make sure that the pin and bushing are pivoting in the rite place. I noticed that they kind of operate in a wired way. If your not careful, it could be easy to install the kit wrong. Is this what happened to the Dorman set that I got, IDK. I just know that the Dorman set didnt last 3 months.

I'm probably going to order some of the Cunningham Machine bushings for my Suburban in the next month or two. It's going to need them again...

I know I am not happy with the Dorman set especially since the lower pin won't go all the way in so that the head is flush. I swear the door is worse than before and I researched this to death. If you do it by the book, it has to be right. There has to be a better product for the hinge pins, do we have to go to the dealer to get quality stuff? I did notice that the original bushings in mine were steel or look to be steel, hell of a lot better than the brittle brass ones you get in those kits.

I keep reading threads about this, and I didn't see anybody give feedback on the aluminum pins with grease fittings. I just installed them, seem to be working fine.

Aluminum? Are you sure they are aluminum. Aluminum is a soft metal, and wont hold up the the tension it takes to hold the door up, after opening and closing many times. From what I can see in the pics, they look like a hardened steel, or a stainless. I do like the way they are designed.
