Hello everyone,

I haven't driven my truck in a few years now and am trying to get it back on the road. I have cleaned the TBI, took my injectors to get cleaned, and replaced the fuel pump. After all of this, when I push the gas very slowly it will run just fine until I get to about 40mph. If I push the gas even just a little harder, it almost wants to die(but it doesn't) and after a minute it goes back to normal and revs up as it should. Before I stopped driving it I was told that one of my cylinders had bad compression.

I appreciate any help.

Have you serviced the catalytic converter?

Any tips for installing a front differential on a 98 K1500? This thing is kicking my butt, having a good old time getting the two driver side mounts to line up.

My truck like to randomly idle very high while in gear (not in neutral) and hard shift 1-2 gear with 700r4 (4l60 non-e). However, most of the time its fine and runs smooth as silk. I've recently replaced the tbi gasket, fuel pump, and tps. I've gone through all of the vacuum lines and replaced any that seemed suspect. I'm not sure where I should be looking anymore. Any tips?

Is it still the stock TBI setup? Have you modified the cable bracket at all? I would check the throttle and TV cable first. With any kind of shifting issues on a 700R4, you probably want to check the TV cable adjustment first, and before you drive it any distance. If you mash the throttle at 45 mph it should kick down a gear. At 50 mph it shouldn't. TV cable misadjustment will burn up your transmission.

Drive at 45 mph on a level road. Mash the throttle and it should kick down. If not, stop where you are and tighten the cable a couple clicks and repeat until it does kick down.
Drive at 50 mph on a level road. Mash the throttle and it shouldn't kick down. If it does, loosen the cable a click and repeat until it does. Go back to the first step and ensure it kicks down at 45 mph.

My transmission would bang the 1-2 shift and drive nice in other gears. I drained the fluid in the pan and put in a new filter. I tried adjusting the TV cable and couldn't get it to clear up. The transmission started slipping, and when I pulled the transmission the fluid was black. Two weeks ago I replaced the transmission and immediately adjusted the TV cable. It seems to run fine now.

Two weeks ago you replaced what, the fluid?
