Is it possible for me to put a 98 K1500 rear end (the whole thing) on my 92 C1500? I know the K1500 is wider but will it all still bolt up? Anyone done this before? Im trying to do a 5 lug to 6 lug swap and have a K1500 rear end already.

I still haven’t seen any verification that this is possible to do with the 8 lug spindles. I have a 99 Suburban 2500hd with 8-lug that I’d like to do this swap on using the 2014 355mm rotors and calipers. So, if anyone can shed any light on this.....

Post #83 in this thread has one done and I've done it as well. Earlier in this thread: https://www.gmt400.com/threads/nbs-front-brake-swap-for-obs-trucks.17805/page-5#post-750006

If I had it to do over again I would swap to the GMT-800 LCAs and work out the shock mounting adjustment. I think I've lost turning radius due to the way the ends of the LCAs are forged. The steering stops are forged into both the back of knuckle and the end of LCA and it appears that with -400 arms and -800 knuckles my wheels are stopping early when turning steering wheel lock-to-lock.

What issue is with the shock mount? I had a whole list of stuff saved on the knuckle swap but a lot of it was lost when GMFS deleted all the old posts.
How bad is the loss of turning radius?

The shock mounting wasn't terribly difficult to overcome, just that the points on each LCA were the shock mounts are in different locations.

Turning radius sucks dick. Not in a good way.

Well that's disheartening; I was on the fence between NBS knuckles or just swapping one-ton DRW rotors, pads, and calipers.
I really don't want to lose any more turning radius, it's not the best to begin with.

Why not grind away some of the knuckle stop? As long as you aren't hitting the internal gear stops that should be fine.

I was able to grab a set of 2001 knuckles and parts for my K1500 swap. I know this is an old thread, if someone is reaming the knuckles for ball joint fitment shoot me a message, I have a set of knuckles to send you. Let me know price and turn around time. Thanx
