Anyone have a 355 running in a 2wd that’s been on a chassis dyno? Curious on dyno numbers at the rear wheels.
You remember what dyno? Was that a 1:1 pull?
I wasn’t too happy with my numbers but it did put down 318 hp and 332 tq. The pull was in 3rd (1.4:1) not a 4th (1:1). So it would have made a hair more if I wasn’t scared of throwing the driveshaft!
Trucks have very long driveshafts (if you have a 1 piece shaft). The longer the driveshaft is, the lower its critical speed is. If you exceed the critical speed, the driveshaft starts to bend and that can cause it to snap.Stupid question for you guys...
I know next to nothing about dynos. What's the big deal with "tossing the driveshaft?" I'm guessing that it spinning that fast with no real resistance on it can be an issue?
Damn.. my 383 with 9.7.1 & long tubes with stock vortec heads & 308 comp cam put down 255 & 330 at the wheels. That was with Holley Sniper EFI. It’s all gone as of today in lieu for an Edelbrock AVS2 Carb & MSD dizzy..
