So far with the warm weather I am at a 14-14.5 MPG avg back and forth to work, hoping to hit 18 MPG again this year on my long trips.

Just did my first calculated tank. 253 miles / 16.25 gallons = 15.6 mpg. Not bad for a 17 year old truck with 220k miles

15.5mpg last tank

Filled her up to day (again), went from 16 miles/gallon down to 14.7 miles/gallon... and it's $6.38/gallon. Any good tips on increasing mpg?

Btw, should a 1990 RCLB 2500 v8 350 have better mpg than a 1997 ECSB 1500HD v8 350, both 4x4 and automatic? I know mine's heavier but I got more hp, less miles and it's a vortec...

I traded my Buick Le sabre for my 1997 Silverado with 5.7 engine and 3.42 gears, so it was a BIG adjustment to the fuel mileage and budget-I needed a truck. Thusly my ongoing quest is to get Buick Le sabre economy from my Chevy or die trying. At present with K&N filter, e fan, shorty headers, duals and modest front rake, I average 17 to 18 mpg using pure gasoline. Not far from what the new trucks are averaging. Trying different tire pressures right now.
