Figured I'd start a build thread for my 2001 HD. I bought this at auction about a month and a half ago with full intentions of reselling it but now I've become attached to how handy it is to have around so here we are lol. It has the 8.1 that noone believes exists and the 4l80e. (Only the 02s got the allisons)

bed is off to put in a 5th wheel in it because I bought a camper at another auction and had no way to haul it home. Ended up being alot bigger and more expensive project than intended but it had to be done and it's done very well and solid

the 90 dollar impossible to find discontinued sensor I needed for the damn thing to run well. It's needed a cam sensor since I got it and the 2001 8.1 sensor is notoriously hard to find so my only options were replace the entire timing set or find one. As just when I was about to order the timing set timing cover cam sensor etc. I found a 2001 sensor on ebay and ordered it.

Using the chrome grille that I plasti dipped red for my 95 now painting it white. I'll eventually buy a color matched grille just trying to save money since I just bought a house. So I repainted the inserts and emblem. I need new corners and turns asap I'll look tonight

Looks awesome!
I've always wondered how hard it would be to convert one of these to 4x4 without a massive amount of lift. All the ones I've seen on the internet are stupid tall.
