4wd just did a little clean-up work on the calipers with a grinder, smoothed out the surface on them and they clear the wheels

Well there is your answer. Most people won't go through that trouble for 15" wheels vs 16".

Swapping because of tires isn't the way to do it unless the rims are valued close to the same....those newer tires wear out and so does their value....rims dont and therefore their value stays.

Also, I think you should do the 4-corner mod asap....and light 'em up!!!
